Beaufort, NC

We spent two days in Beaufort, NC. This is an old city with a beautiful water front.
A nice set of hedges in the garden section of home in Beaufort.

Almost every house in Beaufort was built in the early 1800's.

I visited a museum in Beaufort. This was an interesting display. Not only did a canon ball shoot out the mussel but nails or any metal one could find.

This is a picture of an object used to move a man from one ship to another in a rescue in the late 1800's

On the water front I found a boat that was being built.

I guess this guy is still in winter storage at anchor.

We spent the day shelling on Shackleton Island. On the Atlantic side we found a couple who had come in at high tide and were now stuck at low tide. The waves were too much for them to leave and the boat was getting full of water.

The ship behind me is coming into Beaufort, NC. The inlet runs by the Island.

There are many wild horses on Shackleton Island.

We think this yacht was run by Green Peace.

The commander of the shuttle Challenger was born in Beaufort, NC. The air port is also named after Captain Smith.

Town Creek Marina had a very good restaurant.
